Joshua Pietras
Barrister

Pacific Islands
I am admitted to the permanent roll of legal practitioners in Fiji and Tuvalu.
However, if you have a dispute in Samoa, Tonga, the Cook Islands or elsewhere in the Pacific, I would be happy to assist.

Fiji
I maintain an active litigation practice in Fiji. I also work alongside local Fijian firms when it is necessary to bring in extra resources.
Cook Islands
The Cook Islands is a prominent jurisdiction for international trusts. Litigation involving these structures often requires specialized legal advice. Local practitioners and trust companies frequently coordinate with overseas legal teams (including New Zealand counsel) when foreign creditors or offshore claims attempt to challenge or pursue assets. Cook Islands law generally requires claims or challenges related to local international trusts to be litigated under Cook Islands law within its own courts, rather than enforcing foreign judgments.

Tuvalu
Tuvalu is one of the smallest island nations in the Pacific, but has a large diaspora in New Zealand. I am admitted as a barrister and solicitor in Tuvalu and can help with any litigation there.
Samoa
If you have litigation brewing in Samoa and need representation there, I would be more than happy to assist. While only Samoan residents can be admitted to the Permanent Roll, New Zealand qualified lawyers can obtain temporary admission to work alongside local counsel in Samoa.
